Have you heard yet, about the amazing new Scotch Whisky attraction opening in Edinburgh in summer 2021? Johnnie Walker Princes Street is milestone zero and part of a huge investment that whisky giant Diageo are making in Scotland in an effort to promote the Johnnie Walker brand on a huge scale. The site will be located in the old House of Fraser store (or Binn’s if you are of a certain age), at the West end of Princes Street in Edinburgh. There are 8 floors to take in, including a flagship retail experience on the ground, where you will find the full range of Johnnie Walker products as well as exclusive products that cannot be purchased anywhere else. An amazing taste, smell and visual experience awaits you as you make your way through the building which has had a complete refurbishment and is quite unrecognisable. If you were ever in either of the department stores you will not know the place any more.
One landmark that you will recognise, the Binns clock, which has been the meeting point for many an Edinburgh date over the years. This has sadly hung, stopped and decaying for many years until now. It has been lovingly brought back to life and once again takes pride of place, in good working order, in time for the exhibit opening in the summer.
As you ascend the building you will find various bars, private dining opportunities, taste and sensory spaces and intimate event spaces, culminating in the roof top bar with spectacular 360 degree views across Edinburgh, the Lothians, the river Forth and even Fife on a clear day.
Beyond JW Princes Street, Diageo are also doing major makeovers across 8 of their distillery visitor experiences across Scotland that have connection to Johnnie Walker, From the brand home, Cardhu in Speyside, to Caol Ila on the beautiful island of Islay, out to the lowlands of Glenkinchie, and Clynelish in the far North. These distilleries all contribute flavour and character to Johnnie Walker in their own way.
